Wildlife At Scout Island Nature Centre Request Bicycle Riders Park Their Bikes
Scout Island Nature Centre provides a relatively secluded, natural place for wildlife and plant viewing. It is a special place in the heart of our community where you can hear the “unfurling of leaves in the spring, feel the rustle insect wings, and absorb the cry of the loon.” This is best done by walking the trails of the Nature Centre. Debbie Demare, City Councilor 2005
Last night a huge overflow (200 maybe?) crowd attended the Mountain Bike forum at City Hall. WILLIAMS LAKE – With snow starting to fly and the darkness deep by work’s end, the second Puddlebike summer winds down. The Williams Lake Cycling Club held their wrap-up directors meeting last week and all in attendance agreed it was a great season and the groundwork for next year looks even better.
Club riders enjoyed the summer with activities like the Boitanio Mall Bike Rodeo, the Jubal Wright Classic Bike Weekend, the Puddlebike-Ryan Leech Fall Fair Event, weekly club rides and several bike video premiers which tastefully included plenty of local talent and scenery. (more…)

From Coast Magazine, September, 2001 issue.
With some of the steepest and gnarliest descents in BC, the Cariboo offers a glimpse into the future of freeriding.
Williams Lake, Baby!
It was a trip that was weeks in the making, but was over way too quickly. More renowned for its abundant
lumber production, the sleepy town of Williams Lake doesn’t immediately spring to mind when discussing British Columbia’s mountain bike hot spots. (more…)

We all have to make them. Sometimes they are clear and easy to make: do you jump from the third storey window or do you take the stairs? If you want to see tomorrow, you have a better chance by taking the stairs. Seems clear to me.
Some other choices aren’t. Take last weekend for instance: take the bike out for a ride or
do I get caught up with the spring yard work? The bike is calling my name like some siren of the trail, yet my yard, and my neighbours would really like it if I actually paid some attention to my place before August! (more…)

Everyone in the Williams Lake Cycling Club knows that one of life’s purest, simplest joys is to ride a bike.

Well it looks like it’s mountain biking season once again and it’s time to shake off the winter cob webs and get those jello legs back in shape. All of those Christmas goodies are finally going to get burned off…WoooHooo! This past winter wasn’t completely spent sitting on our slightly enlarged behinds, we finally got the Williams Lake Cycling Club off the ground and started on a web site too. The schedule of events, ranging from our regular Wednesday night rides, youth and rookie rides, bike maintenance seminars, Bikes for Kids drive, to the Kranked 4 a Day all day bike fest have been keeping us busy. If you want to see a calendar, please check out the website at www.puddlebike.com (or look at Red Shred’s) and while you are at it take a peek at the picture pages and the interactive forum. We’re pretty happy with it! (more…)
