Bikes For Kids

As seen in the Cariboo Advisor April 18, 2001

Everyone in the Williams Lake Cycling Club knows that one of life’s purest, simplest joys is to ride a bike.

Club members like riding so much they think everyone should ride. Unfortunately, many of our town’s youngsters can’t afford a bike. The Williams Lake Cycling Club finds this unacceptable.

The Club wants to help put a bike under every kid. So they ask that you think about donating any old bikes or bike parts you might have kicking around. If you’ve upgraded, or, for whatever reason, you have a bike that you don’t foresee using again, why not bring it down to Red Shred’s Bike and Board Shop where a crew of brilliant bike wizards are standing by to make the bike right for kids who deserve the chance to ride.

“We’ll take parts, frames, whole bikes – whatever,” says Red Shred’s Mark Savard, “Everybody here loves riding and they can take that old ride of yours and fix it up for a kid who will make your old ride rock again.”

There’s plenty of room down in Red Shred’s turf where your old first mountain bike or roadster can be readied and stored until a suitable youngster if found.

If you own such a bike, chances are you know all about the joy of riding. What better end for your old bike than a new life under an appreciative youngster? Everyone feels great, and the community gets the sense that people in our town truly do share the simpler things that can make life just a bit sweeter for everyone.
